Job Description

Make a positive difference for students as a part-time Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing providing vital educational support for K12 learners. This contract opportunity is based near Lachine, MI, working with a respected educational service provider in a hybrid onsite/virtual (VOCO) capacity. The position covers the 20262027 school year, running tentatively from late August through early June, with a commitment of approximately 10 hours per week.

This rewarding role is ideal for passionate educators dedicated to empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing students at various grade levels, ensuring access to quality instruction and a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Current, active Michigan teaching license (required). License verification: Verify Here
  • Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in K12 schools is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with virtual and onsite instructional methods
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to provide individualized accommodations and support for diverse learners

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective instruction to K12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing, tailoring approaches to meet their unique needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and families to facilitate student success
  • Conduct assessments, develop and monitor IEP goals, and track student progress
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school setting
  • Utilize technology and adaptive tools for both in-person and virtual environments
