Job Description

Make an important impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing! A new contract opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This is an on-site position (no VOCO/remote option) working with school-aged children in the Kingsford, MI area. Youll be part of a dedicated school environment committed to inclusive learning and student success.

Ideal candidates have experience providing direct and consultative services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, collaborating with educators and families, and ensuring access to communication and curriculum across settings.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience implementing IEPs and adapting materials for students with hearing loss
  • Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, and ASL strategies
  • Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for fostering a positive, supportive school culture

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction and support tailored to the individual needs of students
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Provide training and resources to teachers and staff on best practices for working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Advocate for student access and equitable participation in all school activities
  • Maintain records, monitor progress, and communicate regularly with families
  • Serve as a liaison between school, students, and community resources
