Job Description

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced educator specializing in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a K-12 school setting. The role is available for the current school year under a contract arrangement, providing a chance to apply specialized teaching strategies that foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to support student success
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication strategies, including sign language or other appropriate methods, to enhance learning outcomes
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of comprehensive education plans
  • Advocate for students and promote awareness and understanding of Deaf and Hard of Hearing needs within the school community

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with K-12 students with hearing loss in educational settings
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture, communication methods, and assistive technologies

Location: Kent, Washington
