Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Valid Louisiana Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License required
  • Expertise in adapting curriculum and teaching strategies for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred, though passionate new professionals are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to students, adapting lessons to individual needs
  • Facilitate language development and access to curriculum for students with hearing loss
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Advocate for students by recommending supports, accommodations, and assistive technologies
  • Participate in professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in deaf education
