A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in an educational setting located in Kenai, Alaska. This contract position is ideal for a dedicated professional passionate about providing specialized instruction and fostering communication skills among students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional programs for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and services.
- Assess student progress and modify teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
- Utilize technology and assistive listening devices effectively within the classroom.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to goal setting and progress monitoring.
- Provide support and training to staff, families, and community members to promote inclusive education practices.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working in a school environment with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities is highly desirable.
- Ability to design and implement differentiated instructional strategies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
