Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in an educational setting. This contract position is based in Kathleen, GA, and offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on students' academic and communication development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide specialized instruction using auditory, visual, and tactile approaches to promote language, literacy, and social skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive educational experience.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and technology to enhance learning.
- Offer guidance and support to families regarding communication strategies and resources.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or relevant state licensure.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational environment.
- Strong knowledge of communication methods such as sign language, auditory-verbal therapy, or cued speech.
- Ability to design and implement effective instructional plans.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
