Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a supportive school environment just outside Kansas City, KS. This contract position offers the chance to empower students by facilitating their academic and social success through specialized instruction and advocacy in both individual and group settings.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with auditory and communication strategies, including sign language and amplification devices
- Experience in educational settings serving deaf and hard of hearing students preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Proficient in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to meet unique learning needs
- Provide support and resources to classroom teachers and staff for accessibility and inclusion
- Assess student progress and participate in IEP meetings, sharing updates and strategies with the educational team
- Advocate for students needs and foster a positive, nurturing environment for language and social development
- Collaborate with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers to ensure comprehensive support
