Job Description

This position offers an opportunity to work as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment located in Kansas City, KS. The role is contract-based, providing specialized educational support to students with hearing impairments within the school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and technology to support auditory and speech development.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and families to ensure consistent and effective communication and learning.
  • Monitor student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary to meet educational goals.
  • Provide advocacy and resources to students and parents regarding hearing-related needs and accommodations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience working with school-age children who have varying degrees of hearing loss.
  • Strong knowledge of educational audiology, speechreading, and assistive listening devices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and provide clear reports on student development.
