Job Description

An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a contract role for the current school year. This position involves working within a supportive educational environment aimed at fostering communication and learning success for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Location: Jupiter, FL, with an additional opening for a full-time Sign Language Interpreter near Palm City, Port Salerno, or Jensen Beach, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff through sign language interpretation.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Promote an inclusive classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and school personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adaptability and commitment to supporting students academic and social development.
