Job Description

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Bachelors degree in Deaf Education or a closely related field (Masters preferred)
  • Strong grasp of current instructional strategies for DHH students
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Compassionate approach with a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with students individually and in small groups to address unique communication and academic needs
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to support accessibility
  • Partner with teachers and staff to modify classroom practices and ensure appropriate accommodations
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and contributing to IEP meetings and reviews
  • Provide advocacy and guidance for students and their families within the educational system
