Step into a rewarding educational environment supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing from PreK through 6th grade. This contract opportunity near Irving, TX focuses on making a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and advocacy. You will work exclusively on-site, engaging directly with students and collaborating closely with school staff and families.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teaching License through TEA required
- Experience in Texas schools is preferred
- Background in interpreting audiograms and adapting curriculum for DHH learners
- Proven ability to manage diverse caseloads and complete student evaluations
- Skill in participating in ARD meetings and contributing to IEP development
- Professional, collaborative, and organized approach to supporting a range of student needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for DHH students within a PreK-6th grade resource classroom
- Complete thorough evaluations and progress monitoring for all assigned students
- Attend and contribute to ARD/IEP meetings as a key member of the educational team
- Read and interpret audiograms to inform instructional strategies
- Implement individualized accommodations and collaborate with staff and parents to foster student growth
- Offer ongoing guidance to classroom teachers regarding best practices for supporting DHH students
This position offers a flexible schedule, with the opportunity to work between 21 and 35 hours weekly, across a minimum of three days per week. You will serve a single campus, allowing for focused, consistent support and relationship-building with your students and colleagues throughout the school year from August 2026 to May 2027.
