Job Description

An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in an educational setting in Idaho Falls, ID. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technology to enhance communication and learning
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to support student success
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data
  • Provide support for social and emotional development related to hearing challenges
  • Conduct hearing screenings and consult with audiologists as needed

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement or specialization in deaf education or hearing impairment
  • Experience working directly with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school environment
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
