Job Description
Seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting located in Hoquiam, WA. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans that address the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized teaching techniques and assistive technologies to enhance student learning and communication
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, speech therapists, and families to create an inclusive learning environment
- Advocate for students educational rights and support their social and emotional development
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and services provided
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement or specialization in Deaf Education, or equivalent credentials for teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working effectively with deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in the use of assistive listening devices and related technology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and educational teams
- Ability to develop tailored instructional plans addressing both academic and social needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
