Empower students to reach their full potential as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga region. Step into a rewarding contract role, helping create inclusive learning environments for students needing specialized support. This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) for the upcoming academic year, from August 5, 2026, to May 19, 2027. While specific caseload and age group details are being finalized, youll be working within a dynamic district where your expertise makes a lasting impact.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Current, active DOE certification for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Prior experience serving as a DHH educator in a school setting strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of accommodations, assistive technology, and best practices for students with hearing loss
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills
- Ability to manage flexible caseloads and work across multiple schools as assigned
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional standards
- Must complete required background checks and fingerprinting as part of the credentialing process
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, fostering language, literacy, and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Assist with developing and implementing IEPs, ensuring compliance and student advocacy
- Integrate technology and visual supports to create accessible learning environments
- Support students transition goals and promote self-advocacy skills
