Job Description
This full-time teaching position supports students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) in a K-12 school setting within the Harvey, LA area. The role is a contract position for the current school year, running through May 22, 2026, serving students as assigned according to district needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional support tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with educational teams to implement effective communication strategies and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Maintain compliance with all district policies, including safety and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana DOE teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education required
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Ability to obtain and pass district-required drug screening and fingerprinting prior to assignment
- Strong communication and organizational skills necessary to manage caseload and collaborate effectively
Position Details:
- Location: Harvey, Louisiana
- Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday; 35 hours per week (7 hours daily plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch) following the school calendar
- Start Date: Immediate availability preferred
- Contract Duration: Through May 22, 2026
