Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Gretna, LA. This contract position runs from ASAP through May 22, 2026, serving the Jefferson Parish School District.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans aligned with state standards
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student success
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
  • Maintain compliance with district policies and reporting requirements

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education is required
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
  • Completion of district-mandated drug screening and fingerprinting prior to placement
  • Ability to work full-time hours, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), following the school calendar
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills are essential
