Key Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Strong understanding of instructional methods, IEP process, and relevant assistive technology
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing individualized strategies
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and support staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place
- Engage with families and caregivers to offer guidance, progress updates, and resources
- Maintain accurate documentation, assessments, and participate in team meetings
- Serve as an advocate for students rights and needs, fostering self-advocacy skills
