Job Description

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Familiarity with a range of communication modalities, including ASL, spoken English, cued speech, or total communication
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss
  • Strong collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and school staff
  • Ability to assess and monitor student progress using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Adaptability and commitment to supporting diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support for deaf and hard of hearing students, both in individual and group settings
  • Develop and adjust lesson plans to meet each students strengths and challenges
  • Coordinate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure all accommodations are delivered
  • Advocate for student access, inclusion, and communication throughout the school environment
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
  • Stay current with best practices and resources for deaf education
