Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with a range of communication modalities, including ASL, spoken English, cued speech, or total communication
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and school staff
- Ability to assess and monitor student progress using appropriate tools and techniques
- Adaptability and commitment to supporting diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for deaf and hard of hearing students, both in individual and group settings
- Develop and adjust lesson plans to meet each students strengths and challenges
- Coordinate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure all accommodations are delivered
- Advocate for student access, inclusion, and communication throughout the school environment
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
- Stay current with best practices and resources for deaf education
