Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment near Glorieta, NM. You'll play a vital role in fostering communication and learning for students with hearing differences, impacting their academic and personal growth. This full-time, onsite assignment spans the 2026-2027 school year, with a start date of August 3, 2026 and end date of May 20, 2027.

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for NM licensure)
  • Experience adapting curriculum and instruction for students with hearing loss
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral strategies, and/or Total Communication
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • A passion for supporting diverse learners and advocating for student access

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEP goals and student needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers on accommodations, lesson modifications, and accessible materials
  • Conduct assessments and document student progress regularly
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and relevant professional development
  • Serve as an educational resource on Deaf culture and instructional strategies for colleagues and staff
  • Work onsite across assigned school locations within the district
