Step into a contract opportunity making a meaningful difference as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This full-time, onsite position offers the chance to support students across a middle school and two elementary school locations in the Glendale Heights area. As an itinerant specialist, your expertise will foster communication and learning, helping students thrive in their academic journeys.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Illinois PEL with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement is required
- Previous experience working directly with deaf or hard-of-hearing students is preferred
- Itinerant teaching experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills and an adaptable mindset
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students across multiple school sites
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure accessible learning environments
- Advocate for students needs and support them in building self-advocacy skills
- Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with families and educational teams
