Job Description
A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support K-12 students in a school setting near Palm City, Port Salerno, and Jensen Beach, FL. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and offers an opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment dedicated to meeting the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and their teachers, peers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Provide interpreting services during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and school events.
- Collaborate closely with educators, specialists, and families to support student learning and social inclusion.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Assist in adapting curricular materials to meet students communication needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficient in Sign Language interpreting, preferably with experience in educational settings.
- Certification or credentials in Sign Language Interpretation are preferred.
- Familiarity with the educational needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work full time throughout the contract duration.
