Ideal candidates will possess:
- Current certification or license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, and assistive technologies
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
- Excellent collaboration skills for working with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational abilities to manage caseloads and maintain accurate records
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grade levels
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications for student success
- Developing IEPs, monitoring progress, and conducting regular assessments
- Promoting self-advocacy, language development, and social-emotional growth within the classroom and school community
- Consulting with families and caregivers to foster effective partnerships and continuity of care
- Staying current on best practices and advancing professional knowledge in the field of deaf education
