Make a difference supporting students across an entire district by providing specialized educational services as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract role offers the unique opportunity to work district wide near Florence, KY, engaging with a manageable caseload of 8 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Beginning as a part-time position, theres potential for increased hours and transition to full-time based on program needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current and valid HI (Hearing Impaired) teaching certification
- Experience working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing preferred
- Strong understanding of diverse communication modalities, including sign language and auditory-oral methods
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Excellent organizational skills and adaptability across multiple school settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, from early childhood through high school
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students communication and learning needs
- Facilitate access to curriculum and support inclusion in general education classrooms
- Conduct assessments and monitor students progress, reporting findings to multidisciplinary teams
- Collaborate with staff and caregivers to develop and deliver effective education strategies and resources
- Advocate for student accommodations and communication access throughout the district
