This opportunity is for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, based in Federal Way, WA. The position is contract-based within a school setting, providing specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments to support their academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to accommodate hearing impairments.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, audiologists, and classroom teachers to support student learning.
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies to enhance student engagement.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly.
- Provide training and resources to staff and families regarding best practices in deaf education.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
