An educational opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting in Eugene, OR. This contract role involves working closely with students who have hearing impairments, ensuring they receive tailored instruction and support to thrive academically and socially.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering effective instruction and communication strategies tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and families to create individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Using assistive technology and specialized teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional approaches as needed
- Providing advocacy and support to promote inclusive educational environments
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure relevant to teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working with children or youth in an educational setting, preferably in specialized instruction
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and strategies for supporting hearing-impaired students
