Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, onsite contract position will work closely with students requiring specialized instruction, serving as an invaluable resource in their academic journey. Youll collaborate with fellow educators and staff, adapting instructional methods and materials to address a range of hearing needs and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
- Demonstrated experience in schools or related educational settings
- Strong knowledge of hearing technologies, communication modalities, and accessibility strategies
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and documentation standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to fostering a positive, accommodating, and respectful classroom culture
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lessons to meet diverse needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide consultative support to general education teachers and facilitate access to the general curriculum
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance expertise and stay current in best practices
- Employ a variety of communication methods, such as sign language, auditory/oral techniques, and assistive technology
- Support families in understanding educational interventions and advocate for student success
