Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing near Elgin, IL. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, youll empower learners across various grade levels, collaborating with school teams to create accessible, inclusive educational environments. This onsite role offers the chance to make a direct impact in the St. Charles area, managing a focused caseload while traveling between multiple buildingspaid mileage is provided.

Key Qualifications:

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) from the state of Illinois, specific to the discipline
  • Previous experience teaching students who are deaf and hard of hearing, or specialized training in this field
  • Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies, IEP development, and assistive technologies
  • Flexibility and organization to work across up to 7 buildings with a caseload of 14 students
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive, communicative, and engaging learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across grade levels
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student growth
  • Provide consultation regarding accommodations, modifications, and use of assistive devices
  • Travel during the contracted hours to serve students at multiple building sites; paid mileage between locations
  • Maintain thorough records and ongoing communication with staff and parents
