Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students as an American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher or Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity is full-time and centers on providing ASL and core subject instruction to high schoolers, fostering both communication skills and academic success. Qualifications:
- Hold valid credentials in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or American Sign Language instruction
- Proven experience teaching ASL and supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings
- Strong understanding of core curriculum and how to adapt content for diverse learners
- Proficiency in American Sign Language
- Collaborative attitude for partnering with general educators, support staff, and families
- Committed to creating an inclusive, positive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging ASL and academic lessons to high school students, adapting methods as needed
- Assess learning needs and tailor instruction to support academic and communication development
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with staff and families to optimize student outcomes and foster a welcoming, accessible environment
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Support school-wide inclusion and advocacy initiatives
