In this role, you will collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to develop individualized education plans while implementing best practices that cater to the unique learning needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Youll utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to foster communication skills, language development, and academic achievement.
Key Qualifications:
- State teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience in educational settings with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and auditory/oral and/or total communication approaches
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) highly desirable
- Passion for advocacy, differentiation, and supporting whole-child learning
- Collaborative approach with teachers, families, and therapists
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students needs
- Develop and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum materials and assessments for accessibility
- Provide direct and consultative support to classroom staff and families
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school activities
