Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field required
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and educational assessments
- Strong communication skills, including American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency
- Experience working with students with hearing loss in school settings
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students with hearing impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Develop and implement student-specific lesson plans and accommodations
- Work closely with general educators to foster an accessible and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and record student progress, adapting approaches as necessary to ensure growth
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing valuable insight to each students educational plan
- Serve as a resource for staff and parents regarding best practices and assistive technology
