Job Description

Step into a dynamic educational environment supporting K-12 students as an ASL Interpreter for a contract opportunity. In this role, your skills in American Sign Language and dedication to bridging communication will make a vital difference in the classroom. This position offers an engaging setting where youll work collaboratively, helping students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing access quality instruction throughout the school year.

Qualifications:

  • Certification via the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V
    OR
  • Minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus passing the EIPA written exam
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language, with experience in educational interpreting preferred
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professional conduct in all school settings
  • Ability to support students across a wide age range (K-12)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for students and school staff within an on-site K-12 setting
  • Support instruction and ensure full participation of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Adapt interpreting style to meet the varying needs of students and classroom situations
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate effective learning environments
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions as required
