A rewarding contract opportunity is now available for a dedicated professional passionate about working as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This role focuses on helping students reach their full potential through specialized instruction, advocacy, and collaboration within school communities.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or are eligible for certification
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities, such as American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-oral, or total communication
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Skilled in collaborating effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and accommodations for students with hearing loss, both individually and in groups
- Develop lesson plans tailored to meet students unique needs and learning goals
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies to maximize achievement
- Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers to facilitate inclusion
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational plans
- Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring their needs are met across learning environments
- Provide guidance and resources to families to support their childs learning and communication skills
