A school in Dudley, MA is seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students with auditory impairments. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in an educational environment dedicated to providing specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technologies to facilitate learning and communication
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive student support
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly
- Provide training and support to families regarding hearing loss and communication techniques
- Advocate for student needs within the school and community settings
- Maintain detailed documentation and communication with school administration and families
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in deaf education or related field
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of auditory, speech, and language development in students with hearing loss
- Knowledge of sign language and assistive listening devices preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
