Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instructional support as a full-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity is based at an elementary level, where youll work closely with a small caseload of five students, helping them reach their academic and personal goals in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
  • Background in direct instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably at the elementary level
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Passion for promoting equal access to education and effective communication for all students
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working with general education teachers, staff, and families
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for DHH students is a plus

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction tailored to the needs of 5 elementary students on your caseload
  • Assess student abilities and monitor progress, adjusting strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and related service providers to support student success
  • Ensure implementation of IEP goals and accommodations
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, promoting self-advocacy and independence
  • Support the school in fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment for every learner
