Job Description

Support students communication and learning as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a rewarding full-time, onsite contract opportunity near Des Plaines, IL. This itinerant role spans a diverse caseload, allowing you to split your expertise between a middle school and two elementary schools. You'll help students thrive by providing specialized instruction and partnering with school teams to create inclusive classroom environments.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement required
  • Prior experience working directly with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
  • Itinerant teaching experience is a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches for varying ages and learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across multiple school sites
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students needs
  • Consult with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure full inclusion and accessible learning
  • Provide training and resources to staff on best practices for supporting DHH students
  • Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation
  • Travel between assigned schools as required by the itinerant position
