Job Description

Empower students to thrive by providing specialized instruction and support to those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic educational environment. These full-time positions (35 hours/week) span elementary, middle, and high school settings, along with an itinerant role, allowing you to bring your expertise to a diverse range of learners. Assignments and specific school sites will be confirmed prior to the start date.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) for K-12
  • DHH endorsement required for all grade levels; general education certification needed for elementary, middle, and high school roles
  • Recent fingerprint clearance through AHCA Clearinghouse (or eligible for streamlined processing)
  • Experience using or supporting American Sign Language, spoken language, or total communication methods
  • Strong background in adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology for DHH students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and communication support, ensuring accessible curriculum and activities for DHH students
  • Implement and monitor compliance with IEP requirements, accommodations, and assistive devices
  • Conduct assessments, document progress, participate in ESE meetings, and coordinate with related service providers
  • Support language development and foster self-advocacy and social-emotional growth among students
  • Train and guide other educators on DHH accommodations, assistive technology, and best practices
  • Assist with statewide testing, transition planning, and ongoing family engagement
