Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with students who have hearing impairments across various age groups
- Strong knowledge of instructional accommodations, assistive listening devices, and current technologies in the field
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff
- Passionate about fostering positive learning experiences for students with diverse communication needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring support for both curriculum access and language development
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments to optimize learning opportunities
- Teach and model the use of amplification devices and assistive technology
- Partner with families to facilitate effective communication strategies and support students educational progress
- Maintain accurate records and participate in professional/IEP meetings as required
