Job Description

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Hold a valid state certification in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or similar
  • Previous experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency in sign language (ASL, SEE, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with assistive listening devices and classroom accommodations
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Assess students skills and collaborate on IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Work with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and implement strategies for accessibility
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families using appropriate modalities
  • Advocate for student needs and help foster a supportive, inclusive environment
  • Provide resources and training to colleagues and caregivers as needed
