Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience designing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong understanding of audiology reports and ability to interpret/explain accommodations
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Exceptional communication, organization, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across various age groups and educational levels
- Adapt and develop lesson plans tailored to each students abilities and preferred communication modes
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to maximize engagement and growth
- Serve as a resource to faculty, offering guidance on accommodations, technology, and classroom strategies
- Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Foster a safe, empowering classroom environment where every student can thrive academically and socially
