Step into a rewarding role serving K-12 students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a vibrant school setting near the Nashville area. This full-time, contract opportunity follows the academic calendar, running from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. As part of a supportive environment, youll be assigned to one or more campuses based on need, including specialized hubs for Pre-K through elementary levels, with exciting expansion into middle school for the coming year.
Your expertise will be instrumental in providing consultative and direct support tailored to each students needs within the district. Engage with dynamic learners and collaborate closely with educators and families to ensure accessible and effective instruction.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education certification (Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing)
- Experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing children and adolescents (K-12)
- Understanding of DHH best practices and educational accommodations
- Up-to-date Tennessee fingerprinting/background check (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Skilled at consultative and resource-based service delivery
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Adapt and differentiate curriculum in collaboration with classroom teachers
- Provide expertise on amplification devices, assistive technology, and instructional modifications
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing to planning and progress reports
- Support and educate staff and families regarding DHH best practices
