Job Description

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience adapting curriculum for students with varying levels of hearing abilities
  • Strong knowledge of audiology equipment, communication modalities (ASL, Signed English, Cued Speech), and assistive technology
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop effective IEPs
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom and/or resource settings
  • Modify lesson plans and instructional materials to meet students unique needs and learning styles
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to support student progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and develop measurable goals for each student
  • Provide training to staff and students in the use of hearing devices and assistive technologies
  • Advocate for student access, accommodations, and inclusion across the educational setting
  • Communicate regularly with families to share progress and strategies for success
