An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting located in Council, Idaho. This contract position involves working closely with students who have hearing impairments, helping them to develop communication skills and succeed academically within an inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized teaching methods and technologies to support auditory and visual learning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and parents to ensure comprehensive support for students
- Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
- Provide guidance and training to school staff on best practices for working with deaf/hard of hearing students
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in K-12 settings
- Knowledge of auditory and visual instructional strategies, including use of assistive technologies
- Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and IEP development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Relevant teaching certification or licensure in special education or deaf education
