Seeking an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing for a contract position in Columbus, OH. This role supports students with hearing impairments in a school environment, enhancing their educational experience through specialized instruction and tailored communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using appropriate communication methods such as sign language, speech, and auditory training.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Provide training and resources to staff and families to support student communication and academic development.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with parents and specialists.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working in educational settings with students who have hearing impairments.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods preferred.
- Strong knowledge of auditory technology and hearing assistive devices.
- Effective communication and collaborative skills to work within multidisciplinary teams.
