Job Description
This full-time opportunity is for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing specializing in instructing students in self-contained classrooms. The position is located in Guilderland, NY, and focuses on providing educational support to young learners with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Manage a caseload consisting of two self-contained classrooms:
- Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 6:1:2 ratio.
- Grades 3 through 5, 8:1:2 ratio.
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and communication techniques appropriate for students needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Experience teaching students with hearing impairments in self-contained classroom settings.
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies for deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple classrooms and adapt to varying student needs.
