Job Description

This full-time contract opportunity is designed for dedicated professionals skilled in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Located in a welcoming school community near Clifton Park and Guilderland, NY, you'll help create an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere for elementary students who thrive with individualized support.

In this role, you'll have the rewarding responsibility of teaching two self-contained classrooms: one for students in grades K-2 (6:1:2) and another for students in grades 3-5 (8:1:2). Your expertise will help inspire growth and confidence in every child.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
  • Demonstrated experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings
  • Strong knowledge of individualized instruction, IEP development, and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive technology
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging classroom atmosphere

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lessons that accommodate diverse learning needs
  • Guide students in developing communication, academic, and social-emotional skills
  • Collaborate with support staff, teachers, and families to foster student progress
