Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the vibrant Nashville-area suburbs. This full-time, on-site position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within an innovative district that provides educational hubs for Pre-K through Middle School students with hearing needs. Assignments will vary and be based on the districts evolving needs, offering a dynamic and collaborative working environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct and consultative educational services to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conducting ongoing assessments of student progress and adjusting instructional strategies to ensure optimal outcomes
- Providing expertise in hearing technologies, accommodations, and communication strategies
- Supporting transition services as students advance through grade levels
- Traveling to different educational hubs within the district as required
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Valid Tennessee Department of Education Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Current Tennessee fingerprint clearance or willingness to fulfill new district fingerprinting requirements
- Strong understanding of child development, audiological needs, and best practices for DHH pedagogy
- Effective communication skills for partnering with school teams and families
- Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads and service models (primarily consultative)
