Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification
• Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Proficiency in communication methods such as ASL, auditory training, total communication, or spoken language
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices and AAC systems
• Strong skills in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs
• Ability to collaborate effectively with families, educators, and related service providers

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction aligned with IEP goals to students across various ages and needs
• Adapt curriculum, instruction, and environments for accessibility and individualized learning
• Assess student progress with a variety of tools, adjusting strategies as needed
• Support and teach self-advocacy, social skills, and independence
• Consult and collaborate with general education teachers for effective accommodations and inclusion
• Coordinate with specialists to ensure consistent use of hearing technology and supports
