Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in an engaging school environment serving students from August 24th, 2026, through June 4th, 2027. Enjoy a full-time, contract role within a supportive and collaborative educational setting, working itinerantly with a diverse range of students across multiple schools. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification
- Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in communication methods such as ASL, auditory training, total communication, or spoken language
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and AAC systems
- Strong skills in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with families, educators, and related service providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction aligned with IEP goals to students across various ages and needs
- Adapt curriculum, instruction, and environments for accessibility and individualized learning
- Assess student progress with a variety of tools, adjusting strategies as needed
- Support and teach self-advocacy, social skills, and independence
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers for effective accommodations and inclusion
- Coordinate with specialists to ensure consistent use of hearing technology and supports
