Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga area! This position offers the unique chance to make a lasting difference in students lives within a dynamic academic environment. Youll work full-time (35 hours per week) across one or more school sites, collaborating with other professionals and making use of your specialized skills to foster communication, academic growth, and confidence in learners from a range of age groups. Exact caseload details will be finalized soon as the district completes scheduling.
Key Qualifications:
- Active DOE Certification for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students is required
- Previous experience working within school environments is highly desirable
- Passion for accessible education and inclusive classroom practices
- Ability to adapt communication and lesson strategies to meet student needs
- Strong organizational skills to balance assignments at multiple schools if needed
- Must complete fingerprinting and district-specific background checks prior to start
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) targeting communication, language, and academic development
- Provide direct support and instruction to students with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Consult and collaborate with general educators, support staff, and families to ensure student progress
- Serve as an advocate and resource for accessibility and inclusion throughout the school community
- Maintain accurate records and support compliance with district and state documentation requirements
