Job Description

Seeking an experienced educator to support deaf and hard of hearing students in schools near Chattanooga, TN. In this contract role, you will work full-time (35 hours per week) throughout the upcoming academic year (August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027). This opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference, collaborating with school staff while providing specialized instruction and advocacy for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Assignment of specific campuses and caseload detailsincluding age groupwill be determined closer to the start of the school year.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current and active DOE certification is required.
  • Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the varying communication and academic needs of DHH students.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members, families, and administration.
  • Commitment to professional standards and confidentiality in all aspects of student interaction.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed as part of onboarding.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative educational services to students with hearing needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized educational plans in coordination with school teams.
  • Support classroom teachers with strategies, accommodations, and resources for DHH students.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advocate for accessible learning environments and ensure consistent use of assistive technology.
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to compliance standards established by the district and state.
