This contract position offers the opportunity to work as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a supportive school environment located in Broken Arrow, OK. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, helping them achieve academic success and develop communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to develop and implement effective educational plans
- Utilize auditory and visual teaching strategies, assistive technology, and communication methods such as sign language or lip reading
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal setting for students
- Support students social and emotional development by creating an inclusive classroom environment
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related specialization
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of hearing impairments, assistive technologies, and instructional strategies
- Effective communication skills, including proficiency in sign language is preferred
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to support student success
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs
