Step into an essential educational role supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students as part of a dedicated team focused on exceptional student outcomes. This full-time, on-site contract position allows you to bring your specialized skills to a diverse student population, with opportunities available at itinerant, elementary, middle, and high school levels for the 2026-2027 school year.
Your expertise will help ensure students have equitable access to the curriculum and school community, utilizing best practices in communication, technology, and individualized support. Your role is vital in fostering language development, self-advocacy, and inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Florida Department of Education certification in Deaf & Hard of Hearing (K-12) required
- DHH endorsement and general education certification for respective elementary, middle, or high school assignment
- Experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and familiarity with ASL, spoken language, or total communication
- Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance
- Willingness to collaborate across disciplines and train staff on DHH accommodations and technology
- Ability to pass Florida background and fingerprinting requirements (recent prints may be transferable)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and communication support adapting curriculum and using assistive technologies
- Develop and implement IEPs, conduct assessments, track progress, and document student services
- Coordinate closely with families, service providers, and school teams to maximize student potential
- Participate in ESE meetings, support statewide testing, transition planning, and professional development initiatives
