Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience working with high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of teaching strategies and communication methods for students with hearing loss, including American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other preferred modes of communication
- Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students needs
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, accessible instruction to high school-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with each students IEP, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom setting
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure seamless learning experiences
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary
- Serve as an advocate for students, promoting self-advocacy and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development
This full-time position runs from 7:30am to 3pm and offers a competitive starting pay of $60+ per hour, reflecting your skills and specialized expertise.
